How to request gluten-free on Cunard

From Cunard's official information (read October 2026):

Official page: Cunard: Food allergy and dietary requirements

General steps that apply on every line:

  1. Declare celiac disease (not just a preference) when you book and on any special-needs or dietary form.
  2. Ask for traditional/fixed dining so you keep the same waiter all week, if the line offers it.
  3. On day one, meet the maître d' or head waiter and pre-order the next day's meals.
  4. Be careful at the buffet: shared utensils and self-service make cross-contact more likely. Ask staff to serve you from the kitchen.
  5. Plan port days and shore excursions with food separately.

What public traveller reports say

Summarized in our own words from public sources we read (October 2026). Each point is one or a few travellers' experience, not a statistic.

positive
A celiac traveller on Queen Mary 2 (July 2025) says the maître d' brought the next day's menus at every meal so dishes could be made GF; they never missed and felt completely safe. Other reviewers say any dinner dish can be adapted, though one found the GF bread poor.
positive
Several commenters describe QM2 as excellent for coeliacs: a separate GF section in the Kings Court buffet, next-day pre-orders through the maître d' and an allergy-safe kitchen. The original poster had struggled to get the restriction logged on the booking before sailing.
negative
A traveller who took their coeliac mother on Queen Anne at Christmas says the promised next-day menus never came, so she only had whatever GF option was on the menu; others report the system working well on QM2 and Queen Elizabeth.
